I purchased a pair in 1980 also and liked them very much. I sold them in 1983 and probably should have kept them longer. I upgraded to Vandersteen 2c's which did give me an overall improvement in resolution but I had to replace my front end and amplifier (tubes) in order to restore the tonal balance I enjoyed with the Time Windows. You can find speakers today that will sound better, but they will probably cost quite a bit more. Something British like a Spendor or Castle or something unusual like a Shahinian might do it. The Vandersteen 1C might also be a possibility. I would avoid speakers with metal tweeters, but you may disagree. I have Castles in one system and Spendors in another and I wouldn't trade either speaker for a Time Window.
