sigificant amplitude variations. Even in my extensively treated dedicated listening room I feel that the cost of at least a Behringer DEQ 2496 is a no brainer. It also gives you the control to adjust tone without damage as you can use any outboard dac you like so the only thing the signal see is digital. Unless the system is inexpensive say under 2000 bucks I think something like at least the Behringer is a good idea.A good room is definitely the first necessity and has wonderful virtues. I've never heard better sound than in my own room. I just think dsp is like icing on the cake.
