General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

How much delay is audible down low?? Whats the magic numbers??

I have seen several sources on this and they all seem to contradict each other or simply not agree. The delay is wavelength specific because of the period. I would expect that for the majority of woofer to midrange or midrange to tweeter crossovers the 360 degree shift may not be audible. Figure 1Khz is 1 msec.. Looking at the Blauert and Laws criteria that delay would be under the curve and OK. At 2k its .5 msec again under the curve where the ear is most sensitive. The curve goes up at 2K again as the wavelength decreases. Even at 500Hz where it goes off the chart the 2msec delay would again be under the curve. I would think only very low crossover say under 100 hz would be an issue. But then you run into the group delay in the tuned speaker cabinet. Seems you just can't get away from phase issues. What do you guys think??
