My initial thoughts about that pre are that there some nice technical solutions to keep costs down and it would probably provide nice technical performance in a wide variety of systems... though gain is what I would call high. Whether one would like the sonics is personal.A gryrator (often referred to as an electronic choke) has been used in place of a physical choke (inductor). The output is capacitor coupled, with the 510k resistor providing the load in parallel (I think) with the input R of the amp being driven. Gut feel is that I'd prefer a transformer in place of the gyrator and coupling cap... but that demands a bit more planning and could be less flexible.
the Coleman regs are supposed to be good-sounding. BUT, IIRC Jac does not warrant his EML tubes for use with them. I'd use something like the custom low noise version of the Tent Labs filament supply and a more typical cathode bias arrangement; more expensive though. I'd also use the 20B version that has a CT connection for the filament.
Just my rushed 2c - others will differ in their take.
