To clarify something I stated earlier in this sub-thread: It seems like the mA is distributed between both tubes (obvious, now that I think about it), so you can rest knowing the tubes are probably not being burned up fast.
Now, to your questions:
Trust your own ears. If you like it at 160mA, run it there, enjoy, and rest easy in that you might get a bit more life from the output tubes. I'd call that biasing with slightly less current than recommended by the manufacturer, but well within accepted tolerances.
Ignore the post you linked - in the quick read I gave it, the observations are subjective and the definitions/characterisations (over/under/cold/warm) etc. not typical.
