He means well - occasionally just has a particular axe to grind.Glad you got something out of the link - I liked the correlation with distortion with what we hear. Probably not the full picture, but an important part. The table of operating points, load, power etc. is also helpful.
With that in mind, I found that the old WE 300B datasheet helped me understand relationship between operating points, load, power and distortion of DHTs. It is more comprehensive than the table in the EML 45B datasheet; I have linked a version it below in case you are interested. Check out page 3 - just be aware that the that the distortion figures are dB below the fundamental; for comparison purposes, think of them as -ve values (e.g. -40dB). :)
I've never heard horn-loaded bass. I reckon La Scala bass could be just about the sweet spot for me. One day.
