Hello fellow Audio crazy..
1 - Speakers - What single driver options would you consider for around $1,000. I've has my eye on some Omegas (Super 3 XRS enclosure with RS7 drivers, 94.5 dB at 8 ohms).
Sounds like up might be handy, check out the Madisound (www.madisoundspeakerstore.com) they have some nice folded Horn Kits leveraging Fostex drivers. I have my own builds use the FE206ne and the FE106... both great drivers in the right application.
2 - Amp - Decware's base model often comes up as a good option for newbies. What else should I be looking at?
I followed Deckerts stuff for years, heard a couple of his offering. Good place to start on a budget.
3 - Phono stage / pre-amp - Again, in the spirit of less is more, are there any cost effective, do-no-harm solutions I should be researching?
I picked up a decent 12ax7 based phono stage from Yaoin a few years ago for $200.00. I have enjoyed it.
