" I would be a bit concerned about a flea power SET having the balls to drive the 15" woofer."Why? IME Watts are more about maximum volume than control. Cone size does not dictate SET unsuitability. As SET Watts increase, you'll get more volume and of course control will be maintained to higher volume levels. But it does not provide more control, per se.
For SETs, I suggest a large, low Qes driver, run in an alignment that accounts for the high output impedance of the amp and aims for enough, but not maximum possible, bass.
Edit: I just noticed your comment about running at 1/2 volume. Are you confusing gain and power? Depending on what you are using to drive the amp, 1/2 on the dial could represent 2W, 20W or 40W output.
