The arc over and plate dissipation problems have been long addressed - not an issue any more. However, in a directly coupled amp make sure the filaments have juice before applying B+; that is a worthwhile practice anyway.
The low interelectrode capacitance of a NOS 45 is one of their strengths - I don't know whether the EMLs are similar. I suspect not. Also, people seem to most like the EML 45, 2A3 and non-XLS 300B tubes at a roughly 1ma/6V bias: 40ma/250V, 50ma/300V, 60/350V etc. This is different to common 45 operating points.
Cheers.
