Those ships didnt run aground, they were torpedoed.Water proof, so was the ship.. until it had its back broke (for those who dont know what a torpedo does to a ship - its a worth a look on Youtube - its not a 'direct hit').
Just the shock-wave would have been quite something, and if I was a 300B filament or even grid winding... I would be very worried, no matter how you might ensure that I would never meet with salt water. Even then, who is to say that they did not.
I say buyer beware.
