I'm with you on all counts.
I find the Tube DIY forum very helpful for technical assistance. There seems little propensity for people sharing stories, personal preferences, voicing etc.
I suspect the absolutist stance of a couple of contributors - ironically, based on subjective findings - has hardened the resolve of the objectivists, creating a vacuum (sorry for the nearly-pun), of sorts.
Still, like Bill, I still have hope. I guess it is up to folks to engage in the activity they'd like to see rather than waiting for someone else to do it.
