RE: If you want to spend some extra $$

Apologies, I was being a touch smart (not in a positive way). My point was that the Kaisei 'lytic are priced in the realm of decent metalised films; ClarityCap CSA springs to mind (have not heard them, but expect them to be pretty decent).

Frihed was suggesting to try the Kaisei 'lytics and if that made an improvement, further voicing could be performed. I don't disagree, but I don't see a need to use 'lytics in the critical cathode circuit. That said, some folks are happy with them in this location and I have not experimented extensively.

The required capacitance (uF) depends on a few things: the desired -3dB point, resistances, gain etc. For my current build, 22uF nets me a roughly 7Hz -3dB point. Your amp will be different though. I'm surprised your amp runs only 16V rated cathode bypasses on the outputs though - I'd check that.
