If you're building for someone or you don't want to deal with the added expense of experimenting and letting your ears do the selecting, I'd go with the lower impedance choice.I can't claim to have done assessment but I have read a butt load of forum info from multiple venues and the conventional wisdom is a 3k primary. There are articles speaking of swapping the 2a3 for a 45 in amps assuming you stay within the plate dissipation of the 45...??
My mono blocks will accept a 45, VT52, 6A3 but they have been voiced for the 50...the other valves do not sound as good by design.
