Sorry that I can't answer your questions. I have also considered the Sophia 845 amps & also wondered about the difference between the 2 versions.
So am interested in any replies.

I did own a less expensive Sophia EL34 PP amp that I thoroughly enjoyed. Certainly not articulate, but musical and easy to listen to & the reason for my interest in the 845's.

The one thought that cross's my mind is; with the OTL's being very transparent & more powerful,.. have you tried a slight readjustment of your speaker location to accommodate the new amps?
