SE amps don't have the handicap of crossover distortion like their Push Pull brothers. It's the ole humpty dumpty bit. The PP amps have an inherent breaking of the signal, inverting half, and reassembling in the output transformer.
I think is especially prevalent in the older mass produced amps.
With this said, a well designed PP amp with good out transformers will provide a nice sound stage.
I think is just easier with SE.
