with Audio Note Oto SE and AN-J/Spe.
Big improvements by:
1. Big heavy duty external power supply for Duet.
2. Finding best S/PDIF cable between Duet and DAC (Audio Note cable wasn't best)
And the biggest improvements:
3. Ripping CD's with iTunes
4. using thick, glossy CD protectors on CD's to control drive vibration while ripping.
Item 4 took the sound up about 4 levels in quality. Very quiet background, music more alive, better beat, vocals are sublimely expressive, instruments sound totally real, the sound of each instrument and voice is so distinctive and yet so cohesive at the same time. Could say more: blah-blah-blah
Bottom Line: this combo sounds better than any Audio Note player I've heard.
