If you are a DIY guy or have a decent builder that you work with, the 50 or the UX250 might be a choice. The 50 needs less then 10k on the grid ...transformer coupling is a solution. Not seen any commercial amps using these valves probably because they are hard to find..I've heard of chinese versions.
I found 3 UX250s on epay in just a few months...got to drop some cash though...
In the words of Sir Larry Moore.."The 50 is what a 300b wants to be"..I'm running mine at about 400 VDC on the plates and a bias of 50 mA. Very Nice. These are a good solution for the guy that loves 45s or VT-52s and needs a little more power and who is willing to spend a bit of cash/IMHO
Just a Thought...I'm very happy with the results. I tried VT-52s on my 92db drivers..did't let the magic out. The 50s are marginal for these drivers
