RE: Has anyone compared KR 300B XLS and EML 300B XLS?

The KR tubes have very thick glass so I find it difficult to believe anyone would encounter 'micro-phonics'. I certainly have not. Are your 300Bs inside your speaker cabinets? Just kidding but mine are within 3 feet of my full-range loudspeakers and 18 inches from the back wall where the bass is trapped and very deep and when I mute the system the sound stops dead. I find the bass is robust and tight, the mids are warm and open and the highs are natural sounding and just extended enough for my tastes, especially with digital sources.
EMLs would be my second choice but both tubes are excellent and so it comes down to personal taste. I think the point about less bass equals better (more) mids is valid.
