I own a pair of 300B SETs built by Silver Circle Audio from Houston, Texas. These amps are the classic Western Electric design which have been beefed up/over-designed with over-sized everything and components of the highest quality available at the time.
In addition I have upgraded the tubes (eg: KR 300B XLS output) giving me an astoundingly punchy 8 watts. I also have Silver Circle Audio interconnects and speaker cabling along with their 5.0 power conditioner which gives me extended overhead as well as great bass and high frequency extension. Visitors are floored when I tell them the amps are 8 watts.
I must qualify this by stating that I drive large floor standers with 92 db sensitivity and a tight extended bottom that reaches 22 hz. @ -2db.
The amps sounded good when I bought them but the upgrades have made a huge sonic difference.
Low power amplifiers can sound great driving the right speakers.
