Just did the same...

... with my Edison 60 and I agree with you that the sound improves. It is more immediate and clearer although I think I lost some of the impact in the lower frequencies. Anyway I prefer it in ETPP for the more natural reproduction of voices and the "fluidness" it creates.

Did you remove the feed-back? I haven't yet but will try it soon... The only thing that worries me is the additional gain, the amp is already very sensitive and I never listen with the volume knob turned more than up to 9 o'clock.

I noticed that you inserted a resistor when changing to triode mode, did you have it connected as ultralinear or pentode before? When changing the Edison from UL to triode I just removed the wire (from pin 6 in my case) and connected pin 6 directly to pin 3. Perhaps the two circuits cannot be compared just like that but I wonder what the resistor does?
