2.5 volt version of TJ 300B

Has anyone tried the 2.5 volt version of the TJ 300B? Excuse my ignorance, but is this still considered a 300B tube--that is able to be put into a 2A3 circuit, or is it closer to a 2A3 replacement?
Would the power output increase over a regular 2A3 tube, or would that depend on the amp?
