I know this feeling.
It is when the audio gods are merciful, the neighbors are quiet, no aircons used, and I'm in the right mood: this is when I sit down, and if I close my eyes I get lost in the sound.
I can't tell where the speakrs are, and no clue about my room's dimensions. It is like the sound is free from all limitations, and I am free from my body's limitations as to the average limitations hindering listening. In one occasion, I was so lost in the music, that when it stopped, I found it VERY surprising that I had to breathe, and had a body on my command, and that I was in a room with a stereo, and not in the spheres where nothing else exists but the eternal harmony.
Huh. This sounds pretty poetic. I do not take any medications, do not worry...
There's this quality in a system that is well set-up, and well-matched. (And is efficient, and is a SET!:)
My SET is the Darling 1.5W, and noone notices any lack of power when they listen to it.Yust listened to Tskaikovskij's Swan lake, conducted by Dorati Antal, a Mercury Living Presence recording. What dynamics! Impact! The full, warm body of the double bass, intent and life pouring out in copious amounts.
I am completely uneducated in music, but have recently acquired a baroque recorder (from ebay). It is a very uplifting experience to try to improvise, to play along with the orchestra! Although I have no idea what notes I'm playing, sometimes I get short melodies that match the presentation.
I recommend this to everyone! Get a piano, a guitar, anything, and try to play along with the orchestra! This can get you a different level of music-enjoyment, and right to the vicinity of the Aural Heavens...
Good luck!Janos
