Re: A future BEZ 6SN7 preamp and 300B power amp owner...

Hi,

I believe you were sent the 220V version given that the fuse is not blown. Due to the way its packed and the point-to-point wiring, it is highly unlikely that there is "no sound"/"no power".

The amplifier sounds better with a pair of TJ300B's. Good as they may sound, the Bez products (particularly the 300B) do not deliver much output past 4,000k. You can test this on your speakers using an SPL meter (Tandy/Radio Shack analogue - don't use the digital ones) and a test disc (Sheffield Labs "My Disc A2TB"). The 6SN7 and T3B have similar sonic signatures - so whoever tuned it, must have rolled off the tops. According to the manufacturer's website, the frequency response range is supposed to be something in the order of a minimum of 20hz to 20khz +-3 db...In reality, they are far from it.

I am presently tinkering around with different capacitor and/or resistor values in the signal path, before ordering better components. There is little point spending money on high end caps if the values are not correct to start with.
