A bullet in the head's a little extreme, Kelly. I listened to the Bley cuts. Apparently you're into deep triode . . . and deep jazz, which I can appreciate, though Bley's not exactly my thing. A little spare for my taste. I caught Gary Bartz at Green Mill and Henry Johnson (guitarist) at Andy's last week in Chicago. My own tastes run to mainstream. But the Bley cuts reminded me of the Bartz set. He and Billy Harper (tenor sax) were sitting in with Malachi Thompson's band at Green Mill. These guys played with an intensity and focus that, sadly, was lost on the mostly meat-market crowd.Anyway don't get bummed about the lack of music discussion in this forum. A similar thread ran this week through the Joelist, and it stimulated some of the finest discourse I've read in that forum.
