I can appreciate your comments about using your music to be
"transported to another place, another time where problems simply
dont exist anymore..."I think a lot of people use music for this. I have never been one of
them really. To me, music is not something to make me relax and
feel unfettered from my plight; I use music to get my mind moving,
to fire my skull contents and feel moved, both emotionally and
mentally. Good music to me should stir the mind and soul, should
make one feel alive, running the gamut of emotions and thoughts. On a slight a slightly different note,
many seem to view songs as portals to memories of the past and
associate songs with events as in "that song makes me feel so
good...it reminds me of the day I met you" or "I love this song;
it was the first song I heard at my Junior High Prom with Billy
who had that weird thing in his pants." I try to never tie songs
to memories...one of the reasons that MTV and music video in general
are restrictive in nature as your brain is unable to cast
away the visions conjured up by Production Crew 101, whose vision
of Glen Gould involves a rotating barrage of shapes (actually, that
was one of the good ones.)While the typical SET amp does not quite do Jimmy Hendrix justice if
listening to "Bold as Love," at live levels, it does convey much of
the nuance of most accoustic music (and a good bit more).I just got off the Eva Cassidy samples... That new album is a bit
light weight...which are some of your favorite pieces? Her rendition
of Sting's "Fields of Gold" left me looking for some salt to kill the
sugar flavor... PJ Harvey, ole Eva aint. But she does have a lovely
voice in that lovely voice sort of way.At least my EICO HF-81 is attempting to help this sound card and
Dell system.... nothing like tubes and "bytes" to make one roll eyes
into back of head...kh
