Those older amps were built using carbon comp resistors. That has as much to do with the "warm vintage sound " as NOS tubes, expensive caps etc. I'm not sure if your amps use metal film types but if they do replace them with some Allen Bradley or Xicon. That will be a good starting point and certainly much cheaper than NOS tubes or speakers etc.. I'm not sure about your listening habits but if your listening to direct radiator types at 90db or less, the 2A3 power should be enough. In addition, hum reduction circuits and snubbers can also work wonders - if you have warrentee issues consult the manufacturer first. - maldar
