you make a very very good point. that is really interesting, the idea that what is really attracting me is nostalgia; that is a very real emotion as one gets older (as I find out the hard way by getting older!!) I'll have to really think about this. When I get my 300B done - I'm doing just a mono-block, because I'm really focusing in on the Audio-Nirvana full-range speakers (I also really believe in point source speakers rather than multi-speaker cabinets with crossover networks), and I have some experimental circuits I want to try - so the 300B will be my "reference" amp that I will compare my experimental circuits to. Yes, I AM making the grand assumption that the 300B amp WILL sound great to me - boy will I be DISAPPOINTED if it doesn't sound great. Anyway, tell you what - I will also make a JFET circuit (I have some great schematics from the London Power books I purchased) and compare. Fortunately, I don't have a problem figuring out what music to use - Beethoven's 5th, 6th and 9th symphonies will do just fine.........the only problem is deciding whether to go with Szell or Bernstein.....by the way, I want to change some of my information (add) for this forum, but for the life of me I can't figure out HOW to get to the page where I can add stuff to my profile. Can anyone tell me how to do this? I am quite puzzled; it's probably right in front of my nose but I've clicked all through this site over and over and I cannot find the link.
