I guess your hypothesis is that the TJ sounds better in systems that lack detail, and that We's sound better in better systems.I guess when the reviewer did the review for the Enjoy The Music piece, in which it was determined that the TJ's were better, he did not have equipment that was that good in its detail.
I'm not disagreeing with your observations, I find them interesting. I'm just questioning the hypothesis in light of all the information available.
I would propose another hypothesis. In systems that are stripped away some so that the set qualities like immediacy can come to the fore more, the TJ's transparency over the WE's is more apparent, and it can be seen that the WE's take away from it. In systems with preamps and with amps that don't focus so much on transparency, the transparency factor does not make as much a difference and the WE's can sound better because of their great tone.
It really depends what you have to begin with I agree, and also what variables are important to you and what you are striving for.
