As I mentioned, I have Fi 300B monos like yourself. I haven't (yet) tried the mesh- plates, but the WE's are to my ears better than the EH's I was using in the ways that matter to me. My WE's are new production, dated Jan 2006. I am new to 300b's, but consider how long the WE's have been so many people's favorites, the "gold standard", and I don't see how you can avoid at least giving them a shot at some point, particularly if you can get them for less than the ridiculous asking price...
