You don't have to limit yourself to specific low power tubes. I would rather limit the topology to SET [single output device] and leave it at that. Then find the combination of driver/ output that will do the job.Fact is that when you do that you discover that there are a number of better sounding tubes and amps possible than you thought. Ultra clean, high resolution, non compressing/ clipping combinations, without the limitations of 1-5 watts.
Of course I still wouldn't waste my time playing with a low eff speaker.
