Single Ended Triodes (SETs), the ultimate tube lovers dream.

Don't forget Antique Sound Lab's 805s--50 Watts; common, inexpensive frontend tubes...

...a 12AX7 and a 6L6; and one relatively inexpensive and common output tube, an 805. I've accumulated a dozen US-made 805s, including NOS RCAs, at an average cost of about $60 each! You can't do that with 300Bs!!!!!!!!!

The amps sound QUITE good and respond well to normal parts upgrading. They're affodbale too, at $3K/pair RR. Of course you can find them used, too.

Read Art Dudley's review in 'Stereophile'; they have enough power to drive his (and mine have the power for my) 86dB-sensitive Quad 989s. The most-current versions look like the pic in 'Stereophile' except they have a topcap for the output tube so one can use all those glorious old American tubes.
