When I first changed over from solid state to SET amps (Welborne Laurel 300B monoblocks) I was so impressed at the improvement I could not imagine ever wanting to change again. However, although I'd never part with my 300B SETs, the OTLs I now have (scratch-built Transcendent Sound T8 monoblocks) deliver music which is considerably more detailed, extended and dynamic - to my ears anyway.Cheers
TGPS - It is a myth that all OTL amps are dangerous and will destroy themselves taking your speakers along with them. I'd trust any of the currently available kits or factory-built products, however I'd strongly advise against buying an older make of OTL. Some of the "pioneering" amps in this field were accidents waiting to happen - that's where the bad reputation had its origin.
