i bet the hf-86 is a solid performer. i have the hf-81 and it's a good all-around amp. i really enjoy music through this amp.seems to me that otl is an amazing type of amp. the music is crystal clear with them. they can make almost any type of speaker sound like gold.
i don't know where a cary 15 watt amp is going to take you? i'm not too familar with cary or that amp.
but the question is otl or single ended. i have both but i don't have your speakers which may not have enough sensitivity.
the future is single ended in my opinion. high effeciency speakers with the right single ended amp, generally a low cost system, to me is better than the best money can buy in the high end arena.
although the latter can sound awfully good and appealing, and you can very much enjoy it, if you have both, you can realize that single ended can have qualities, more important qualities, that are simply unavailable elsewhere.
