I'm using Russian teflons which *do not* contribute to woolly sound. The 300Bs still sound woolly compared to 45s and 71As.I think another part of the preference is that 45s and 71As can be driven with a single triode. It's *way* easier to get great sound. I intended to explore more 300B driver stage options, but the first circuits I tried using 45s and 71As sounded so much better than any of the dozens I tried with the 300B that I kind of lost enthusiasm. I'll return to it eventually; I need the additional power.
