Indeed. This place does some a bit perfunctory without the likes of JackG. I can tell you the real reason he hasnt been hovering about has more to do with the very fact that ole JackG finally got married so his hands appear to be full as it were. Wandering in and out of the SET Asylum probably takes a distant back seat to other interests. Can't say I blame him really.Dave, I am surprised you dont have public radio near where you are. I am actually listening to our public station at this very second via my all tube EICO HFT-90 combined with ye olde and wonderful sounding HF-81. I still think this is one of the best vintage push-pulls that comes closer to the magic of SET that any other I have, surely more so than my EL-34 boat anchor.
I think the addition of my vintage Cornwalls has done more to excite my interst in SET than any tweak, part swap, or tube rolling.
To be honest, there is actually more new SET purchases/discussion going on in the Klipsch 2 channel Forum than in thy SET Asylum! No Milkman Dan around but tube craziness has run rampant and not a moment too soon for those poor vintage Klipschers that had these horns hooked up to mediocre solid state. I think the last four Welborne Labs SETs (both Moondog & Laurel) have been procured by vintage Klipsch owners. It's a frightening sight to behold. Those poor lads will never be the same...
