Thorsten -- great article.Regarding those tubes noted as being microphonic, is there any significance to that if you sit still while listening?
I just was trying out another $1.25 special, a 57-year old Raytheon 6F8G, as the driver in my headphone amp. The tube sounds pretty good, on the sweet and lush end of the spectrum (I'll decide some other day if it is too much so). I bumped the table and heard the familiar ring and, lo and behold it, is tremendously microphonic. In this application, that fact is interesting but does not seem to detract from the music.
Do microphonics become a bigger deal when output is in watts rather than fractions of watts?
