Thanks for the input, Paul. I'll try your suggestions. I do have a couple of plate chokes from MQ -- 100H, 10ma. Sounds like just the ticket for this application. As a relative novice to tube design, I wonder if I could get input from someone on how to do this. Here's my idea (let me know if it's wrong): My supply voltage is 460v. If I use a choke, I suspect the DC voltage at either end of it is going to be about the same. So to put 250v on the 6N1P, I'll have to drop (460-250) 210v. 210v at 5ma would mean a dropping resistor of 42k, and 5watts (including a safety margin of 5x). To get 5ma to flow, I'll use a 1k grid resistor on the 6N1P, putting the grid at -5v. Does that all sound correct? By the way, the chokes have a black dot by one terminal. Should I assume that's the B+ side, or does it make a difference?
