I've started talking to James Burgess about building a 45 based amplifier for me. There are a number of options for which I have little clue as to how to evaluate.
12AX7, 6SN7 or 5687 input tubes
Mundorf or Solen capacitors
Bugle circuit or some other circuit with lower gain
Electra Print transformers, copper or partial silver, or some other brand
The Burgess standard build I think is 12AX7 input tubes, Electra Print copper transformers and Solens capacitors. Having said that, he does tell me that his customers make different choices all the time. So when I hear someone loves their Burgess amplifier, I don't know what exactly went into that Burgess amplifier.
While I'm at it, does anyone know how a Burgess built amplifier compares to the well know Yamamoto A-08S?
Thanks for any insight you may be able to offer.
Wilson
