Maybe my title should have been "Beyond the 46?" because that's what I actually use. In either case, I am wondering if there is a triode output tube that can sound even better than the 45 or 46 (single-ended of course).
Obviously, circuit design and parts quality (ex OPTs) play a major role, so let's work under the assumption that both are excellent. Also, power output is NOT a consideration.
Some candidates that I can think of include 10/10Y, 71A, 205D, etc. Any opinions? Thank you.
