All EML 45 mesh plates tubes are "bad" when used in a standard 45 circuit. The mesh, as clewarly stated on the spec sheet, does nmot have the dissipation of a solid plate 45 and will burn up rapidly in a typical 45 circuit not designed for the mesh tube.
Hardly sounds like the sellers fault. If you use a 120 watt lightbulb in a 40 watt rated circuit, it's your mistake (and consequences, I would think).
The solid plate EML 45 is magnificent.
