I agree with your thoughts regarding the worth of conclusions based on another's experiences - especially relevant in this case, considering the actual experiences. I would add that in trying to interpret one's comments about a particular amp/system/whatever, one may want to remember that each person has different contexts, musical preferences, and aesthetic preferences... When casually analysing (for want of a better word)and describing something, one tends to consider their personal likes and dislikes and compare the present to some (vague) memory of what they have heard and casually reasoned out some time previous. So, peoples' descriptions of phenomena can be very much helpful in getting a general idea or 'feel' for something, but one can not gain a detailed understanding as it relates personally to them. It may be helpful for one to remember the limitations in others' descriptions - something I have difficulty with in relation to audio, at times, because I tend to switch-off my formal/conscious critical/analytical mind WRT audio.
As an aside, I was not aware that Yamamoto used Tamura - for some reason I thought he wound his own. Some folks like a little amorphous in the mix, others not. Some folks like Tamura, others Tango, others, er, others... I'd like to hear the Yamamoto one day; however, from the descriptions I have read I think it has some traits I would love, but overall is not what I would be looking for in an amp.
Cheers
