Single Ended Triodes (SETs), the ultimate tube lovers dream.

JE Labs Simple 2A3/45

I have completed my FIRST DIY tube amp. I built the JE Labs 2A3/45 amp. I opted to use 45s as the output triode. Ok now that it is all "done" I guess I did something wrong. Everything seems fine I suppose, I mean all the voltages are close to what they should be. BUT it sounds really terrible. There is absolutely no volume to it. I mean it is barely audible. I don't know what this could be???? I am using Hammond 125E OPTs and my speakers are about 88 db 1w/1m. I used seperate filment transformers for the 45s. The schematic used one. I just duplicated it. So on the center tap of them filment transformers I have a 100 uf 100v cap paralled with 2 1.2k ohm 10 watt resistors (that are also paralled) Is this right?? Also I didn't use a volume pot, instead I used 2 220K ohm resistors paralled attached to the input tube screen then grounded. Is this right?? (the schematic called for a 100k ohm pot) I am really at a loss. I think it is worth mentioning that I have never heard a hi-fi SET amp before, but I really don't believe that mine is working right. I don't expect much as far as power output goes, but I thought it would be at LEAST as loud as a clock radio! Someone please help!
