I was able to convert my Sun vt-25 kit amp to use 50 and 300b's by adding MQ gridchokes, a bypass switch for the local NFB and resistance switch for filament voltages. I have variable cathode resistors and adjusted to what worked best for all tubes.(This was much different than calculations predicted). Believe it or not the 5k primary worked with NFB on the 10's. I think the gridchokes and lower value coupling cap help. I never would of thought that 10 would be linear enough.
The 45 is a whole other amp and I wouldn't compromise with that tube.
