The JI-300B series amps employ the 5965 in the gain stage as these amps are integrated designs with no preamp required.
I can certainly vouch for superlative fidelity of them (!) and although the tubes employed are only a portion of the whole design, one benefit besides their inherently suited characteristics when utilised as they are in these particular amps is that the 5965 and 5687 tubes are in plentiful supply and usually very low cost for most varieties...
(BTW: The European designated E180CC & E182CC tubes present virtually equivalent electrical characteristics to the 5965 and 5687 and can thus be directly substituted in most instances).
