Hello,I also own the Valencias. I had been using a Decware SE84CS Zen amplifier. Tube rolling has been fun and one can search for the sound that suits.
This little amp (1.8 watts/channel) delivers the goods with using a passive pre or the Decware ZSLA-1, both of which have no gain. An active pre may do even more. One even has the choice with using only the amp as it has a volume pot (I used it in this mode for several months). Source is vinyl.
So this is certainly a possibility to pursue. Check out the Decware site.
BTW, have you done any mods or upgrades to your speakers? I'd be interested to learn about these.
