3 years is a good amount of satisfaction. But its good to get something going on this forum too.The parallel solution is a major solution. Paralleling is not push-pull but it is addition, or maybe it's multiplication. The sum might be greater than the parts.
My impression of using two output tubes, two 45's per channel is that it not only increases power and provides the "headroom" that one can sense the presence or absence of, but it might also actually improve the sound.
I'm wondering about the following. Say you have a 717a/45 or a 6sn7/26/45, and you change it to a parallel amp but keep the single driver tube, then in some way you may be increasing the presence of the 45 output tube. In the sound configuration, the output tube may gain perhaps 50 percent more of the sound presence.
In other words, the 717a might affect the sound 50 percent with a single 45, but might affect the sound 25 percent with two 45. This might have a more positive effect on the sound. At least it seems to control the effects of the driver to some extent.
You need good gain from a driver tube but they seem to have too strong an effect on the sound.
I don't know the effect of paralleling even more than two output tubes per channel. It might just get better and better.
I'm very impressed with paralleling. It is like a gift to the single ended experience and situation.
