Perhaps you should consider building a pair of very high quality, class A, zero feedback, push pull 45 monoblocks. Properly implemented you should get:1. 4 or 5 strong watts with improved "drive" compared with SE circuit
2. Improved PRAT
3. Headroom
4. 45 sound
5. Very little or no loss of the "SE Magic."What phase converter / driver? Look to the Poinz circuit for his implementation of a single input/phase converter/driver tube. Don't know if his approach could work with the 45 output - even using a different tube type. But important to keep your circuit as simple as possible...like a good SE amp. Direct coupling might be cool...but difficult to implement I suspect. So you'll need an IT or a really good coupling cap.
Here's a thought turned on its head: Once you hear a really good push pull amp, you'll never go back to single ended.
