In the example of the Fi I used, you cannot hear the hum with 103dB speaks even on very quiet passages, even when listening in the low 70dB range - the idling hum is a non issue when music is playing. If an amp hums loud enough to be audible when music is playing, then you have a problem. The Fi doesn't.
