> phase-splitter???Nope, that will make things a lot worse. I do not recommend modifying much on the Sun input stage. You would need to change the IT and do a lot of chassis work to make material improvements.
Other than that just stick a good quality 100uF Film Cap (or at a stretch an Elna Silmic) onto the cathode of the 6SN7 and around 5uF of really high quality capaicty from the Cathode to the stages +B line.
Equally stick a suitable capaictor on each 300B/2A3 from the cathode resistor top to +B, value around the cathode capacitor divided by 3.5.
