I’m looking for a new amp. My full system is listed in Inmate Systems.For the past year I’ve been using stock Paramour 2a3’s. They sound wonderful, and I have no complaints about their sound, BUT… I’m sure there are reasonably priced amps out there that sound better than the Paramour. And I’d like to get one.
Dilemma A is price. Most of the commercial amps that look interesting are $3500 and up. So I’m considering an assembled kit. My current 2k list is:
Welbourne Ultimate DRD 300b
Lady Day ultimate 300b
Bottlehead Paraglow 2a3 or ParaBee 300b with John Tucker upgrades
Or..
Wright WPA3.5
Wright Mono 8Which points up Dilemma B – stick with a 2a3 or try a 300b? I’ve decided that power is not an issue, since the Paramours play loudly enough for my taste, but I’m curious about the “magical midrange†of the 300b.
Any opinions will be appreciated.
